Direct, provocative messages<\/strong> echoing the news that bounce between continents at the click of a mouse.<\/p>\n

In questa nuova serie \u201cContemporary Perspectives\u201d l\u2019artista usa un linguaggio tutto nuovo per la sua poetica, che richiama i cori delle manifestazioni, e ancora le proteste sui social, e le news diffuse dai media. Si tratta di messaggi diretti, provocatori,<\/strong> che fanno eco alle notizie che rimbalzano tra i continenti in un batter di click.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Pride Gate<\/h4>\n

A line can be straight, or a street, but the human heart, oh, no, it’s curved like a road through mountains.\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n

To coincide with the June 2020 Pride Month Penelope created a Star Gate to support the LGBT<\/strong> cause that celebrates diversity in all its forms. For the occasion she borrowed the words of Tennessee Williams<\/strong> (1911-1983), the homosexual US playwright.<\/p>\n

\u201cCosa pu\u00f2 essere definito dritto? Una riga pu\u00f2 esserlo, o una strada, ma il cuore dell\u2019uomo, oh no, \u00e8 pieno di curve come una strada di montagna\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

(In inglese \u00e8 presente un gioco di parole non trasferibile all\u2019italiano. <\/span>\u201cStraight\u201d ha due significati: \u201cdritto\u201d e \u201ceterosessuale\u201d.) <\/span><\/p>\n

In concomitanza con il Pride Month di Giugno 2020 Penelope realizza uno Star Gate a sostegno della causa LGBT<\/strong>, che celebra le diversit\u00e0 di ogni genere. Per l\u2019occasione prende in prestito le parole di Tennessee Williams<\/strong> (1911-1983), scrittore statunitense omosessuale.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=”transparent” thickness=”10″][vc_separator type=”transparent” thickness=”10″][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=”transparent” thickness=”10″][vc_column_text]Forever engaged in the fight against racism, Penelope incorporates messages into her work that recount even-handed human dignity through scientific discoveries or images of the macro and micro cosmos that invisibly connect the whole universe: people with each other and people with nature.<\/span><\/p>\n

The killing of George Floyd on May 25th 2020 reawakened the Black Lives Matter<\/em><\/strong> movement that was born 2013 and has never gone away. The movement engaged in the fight agaist racisim originated in the absolution of George Zimmerman, who shot seventeen-year-old Afroamerican Travvon Martin to death on February 26th 2012. Following this event, the hashtag #blacklivesmatter began to appear on social networks and hence the name of the movement was born.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The cry of the artist demands attention to life in all its aspects, in all its nuances both human and natural and expands the cause championed by the artist to all living forms. The echo of this proclamation is an attention to the future<\/strong> of our planet that starts with the peaceful sharing of its spaces and through unbounded respect among people without divisions be they of race or colour. <\/span><\/p>\n

Da sempre impegnata nella causa contro il razzismo, Penelope incorpora nelle sue opere messaggi che raccontano la pari dignit\u00e0 umana attraverso scoperte scientifiche, o immagini del macro e micro cosmo che collegano invisibilmente tutto l\u2019Universo: gli uomini tra di loro e nei confronti della Natura. <\/span><\/p>\n

L\u2019uccisione di George Floyd il 25 Maggio 2020 ha risvegliato il mai scomparso movimento Black Lives Matter<\/i><\/strong>, nato nel 2013. Il movimento impegnato nella lotta contro il razzismo ebbe origine con l\u2019assoluzione di George Zimmerman, che aveva sparato al diciassettenne afroamericano Travvon Martin, uccidendolo, il 26 febbraio 2012. In seguito a questo avvenimento, cominci\u00f2 a comparire nei social network l\u2019hashtag #blacklivesmatter, da cui nasce il nome del movimento. <\/span><\/p>\n

L\u2019urlo dell\u2019artista richiede un\u2019attenzione alla vita in tutti i suoi aspetti, in tutte le sue sfaccettature, sia umane che naturali, allargando la causa sostenuta dall\u2019artista stessa a tutte le forme viventi. L\u2019eco a questo proclama \u00e8 un\u2019attenzione al futuro del nostro pianeta<\/strong>, che parte dalla condivisione pacifica dei suoi spazi, e attraversa il rispetto senza limiti tra gli uomini, senza divisioni n\u00e9 di razza n\u00e9 di colore. <\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=”transparent” thickness=”10″][vc_separator type=”transparent” thickness=”10″][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

Audre Lorde (1934 – 1992) was an Afro-American homosexual poet and writer. She was an activist supporting anti-racial causes and in defense of gender equality, homosexuality and civil rights. She always wanted to be seen as a warrior, and she died showing with all her actions that she couldn\u2019t be anything else.<\/p>\n

Audre Lorde (1934 \u2013 1992) \u00e8 stata una poetessa e scrittrice afro-americana omosessuale. Attivista a sostegno delle cause antirazziali, si \u00e8 battuta tutta la vita anche a difesa della parit\u00e0 di sesso, dell\u2019omosessualit\u00e0 e dell\u2019uguaglianza dei diritti civili. Ha sempre voluto essere considerata una guerriera, ed \u00e8 morta dimostrando in tutte le sue azioni di non essere altro. <\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=”transparent” thickness=”10″][vc_separator type=”transparent” thickness=”10″][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

“No man is an island entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent<\/strong>, a part of the main; if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as any manner of thy friends or of thine own were; any man’s death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind. And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.”<\/em><\/p>\n

La famosa citazione \u00e8 tratta da “Devozioni per occasioni d\u2019emergenza” del 1624, un lavoro in prosa del poeta inglese John Donne<\/strong>. <\/span><\/p>\n

The author starts from the condition of subjection of the woman in Nigeria to stating that it is necessary, in all modern society, to rebalance forces aimed at true gender equality<\/strong>, which is non-existent today.<\/p>\n

Contemporary philosophy often lurks in the least expected places. Sometimes on street-art-covered walls.<\/p>\n

Banksy, British street artist and writer, is known for his visual provocations and literary ones, too. Capable of disarming clarity over thorny and complex issues with political, racial, cultural and ethical origins, he has managed to surprise for decades with his immediacy and shamelessness<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Penelope has chosen this quotation as a warning in the light of her own experience as a new mother<\/strong>. Admiration for this artist has led her to shift the focus of her works from universal themes to current themes in which she expresses the universality of her work through specific themes that shine a light on contemporary humanity<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Banksy, street artist e writer britannico, \u00e8 conosciuto per le sue provocazioni visive, ma anche letterarie. Capace di una chiarezza disarmante di fronte a tematiche spinose e complesse a sfondo politico, razziale, culturale ed etico, riesce a sorprendere per la sua immediatezza e spudoratezza<\/strong> da decenni.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
