The project, including a variety of artworks inspired by different spiritualities and religions wants to highlight and value the differences, under an anthropological point of view, about the need to answer to the existential questions of the human being.<\/p>\n

Where do we come from? Where does life come from? Where are we going? What exists after death?<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

These questions have been existing since the beginning of humankind, they are archetypes of an unconscious that we call \u201ccollective\u201d. Different answers come from different cultures and they are what outlines the nature of a religion. The artist dives deep into the world of spirituality, looking for contact points beyond the differences<\/strong>, without taking any position, only the one of the observer.<\/p>\n

Questi StarGate rientrano in un progetto pi\u00f9 ampio: una serie sulle religioni del mondo. Il progetto, di cui fanno parte varie opere di diverse spiritualit\u00e0 e religioni, vuole evidenziare e valorizzare le differenze all\u2019interno di una riflessione antropologica sulla necessit\u00e0 di rispondere alle domande essenziali dell\u2019essere umano. <\/span><\/p>\n

Da dove veniamo? Da dove nasce la vita? Dove andiamo? Cosa esiste dopo la morte?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Queste domande esistono da quando esiste l\u2019uomo, sono archetipi di un inconscio che chiamiamo \u201ccollettivo\u201d. Le diverse risposte delle diverse culture sono ci\u00f2 che va a delineare il carattere di una religione. L\u2019artista indaga il mondo della spiritualit\u00e0, cercando i punti di contatto al di l\u00e0 delle differenze<\/strong>, senza prendere alcuna posizione, solo quella di osservatrice.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=”transparent” thickness=”10″][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

Ho\u2019Oponopono<\/h4>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=”transparent” thickness=”10″][vc_separator type=”transparent” thickness=”10″][vc_separator type=”transparent” thickness=”10″][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern”][vc_column][vc_column_text]The word Ho\u2019Oponopono originated in Hawaii islands, and literally translates into \u201cputting things in the right place\u201d<\/em><\/strong>. According to Ho\u2019Oponopono asking forgiveness for a mistake transforms the negative energy that we have produced into positive energy. Energy is renewed and given a new shape.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

If we look through the drawing, and we follow the words which compose the mathematic symbol of infinity with our eyes we always go back to the starting point. This is the beauty of this symbol that is cyclic like a mantra<\/strong>, and it stops only for the will of our eyes. The Ho\u2019Oponopono\u2019s mantra repeats the words \u201cI love you, I’m sorry, forgive me, thank you” and it is readable and repeatable infinite times. Penelope\u2019s artwork is accompanied by the stars of the birth<\/strong> of who owns the artwork.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This choice includes the principle of union between humans and cosmos, ever-present in Penelope\u2019s research. This research is connected to Ho\u2019Oponopono\u2019s philosophy principles: everything that we perceive is a product of ourselves and of our energy<\/strong>. Such energy is nothing but an extension and an expression of the energy of the cosmos.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

La parola Ho\u2019Oponopono ha origine nelle isole Hawaii, e si traduce letteralmente in \u201crimettere le cose al proprio posto\u201d<\/strong><\/em>. Secondo l\u2019Ho\u2019Oponopono, chiedere perdono per un errore commesso trasforma l\u2019energia negativa che noi stessi abbiamo creato in energia positiva. L\u2019energia si rinnova e si ripresenta in un\u2019altra forma.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Se percorriamo con lo sguardo il disegno, e seguiamo le parole che vanno a comporre il simbolo matematico dell\u2019infinito, torniamo sempre al punto di partenza. Risiede qui la bellezza di questo simbolo che, come un mantra, \u00e8 ciclico<\/strong> e si interrompe solo per volont\u00e0 del nostro sguardo. Il mantra dell\u2019Ho\u2019Oponopono ripete le parole \u201cTi amo, Mi dispiace, Perdonami, Grazie\u201d e si pu\u00f2 leggere e ripetere infinite volte. L\u2019opera di Penelope \u00e8 accompagnata dalle stelle di nascita di chi possiede l\u2019opera d\u2019arte<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

In questa scelta rientra il principio di unione tra uomo e cosmo che \u00e8 sempre presente nella ricerca artistica di Penelope.<\/span>
\nRicerca affine con i principi filosofici dell\u2019Ho\u2019Oponopono: tutto ci\u00f2 che percepiamo, sentiamo, e osserviamo \u00e8 stato prodotto da noi e dalla nostra energia.<\/strong> Tale energia non \u00e8 altro che un\u2019estensione e un\u2019espressione dell\u2019energia del cosmo.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=”transparent” thickness=”10″][vc_separator type=”transparent” thickness=”10″][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

Pater Noster<\/h4>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=”transparent” thickness=”10″][vc_separator type=”transparent” thickness=”10″][vc_separator type=”transparent” thickness=”10″][vc_column_text]Christianity is the dominant religion in Penelope\u2019s country of birth and the nearest culturally, as well as being a milestone for many European cultures. Religion represents our origins<\/strong> and has breathed life into many of the traditions we are rooted in and will always respect. Penelope chooses to represent religions in her works in the series of the same name because they are a universal search that gives a way into the spirit of the people<\/strong> questing after\u00a0archetypes\u00a0that are common to us all.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Investigating these themes in depth and understanding them shines a light on where differences lie in humanity and where there are points of contact. It expresses a part of the truth of our world. After the macro- and microcosm, there could only be a deepening of the spiritual plane.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Light passes through words and works of art, technology and, with a contemporary appearance, it joins past and present. Padre Nostro (Our Father) has in fact been deliberately written in Latin with Gothic lettering. By adding hints of the historical, the work creates a thread linking past and present<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Il cristianesimo \u00e8 la religione dominante del paese di nascita di Penelope e la pi\u00f9 vicina culturalmente, oltre che essere una pietra miliare di molte culture europee. La religione rappresenta le nostre origini<\/strong> e ha dato vita a molte delle tradizioni a cui siamo radicati e che rispettiamo da sempre. Uno dei motivi per il quale Penelope sceglie di rappresentare le religioni nelle sue opere \u00e8 che permette di avvicinare l\u2019uomo a culture e pensieri diversi<\/strong> e scoprire ogni volta nuovi universi. <\/span><\/p>\n

Approfondire e conoscere questi temi mette in luce le diversit\u00e0 e i punti di contatto del genere umano ed esprime una parte di verit\u00e0 del nostro mondo. Dopo il macro e il micro cosmo non poteva che esserci un affondo verso la spiritualit\u00e0. <\/span><\/p>\n

La luce passa attraverso le parole e l\u2019opera d\u2019arte, tecnologica e con un\u2019estetica contemporanea, diventa il connubio tra passato e presente. Il Padre Nostro \u00e8 infatti volutamente scritto in latino e in carattere gotico. Aggiungendo caratteristiche di storicit\u00e0 l\u2019opera crea un filo sottile tra passato e presente<\/strong>, tirando le fila con il passato e tentando di dare una risposta alle domande universali. <\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=”transparent” thickness=”10″][vc_separator type=”transparent” thickness=”10″][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

Shintoism<\/h4>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=”transparent” thickness=”10″][vc_separator type=”transparent” thickness=”10″][vc_column_text]For this work part of a Shinto ritual prayer (Norito) has been chosen that says “Word that stops the individual leaves of the Heisei Bone Tree Negishi (Bonsai, ed.) herb. Goodbye to the celestial bait and divide the celestial clouds of the sky in their thousands separately. The heavenly descent is a snake. I am proud of you.”<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Shintoism is an ancient religion with no founder, doctrines or dogmas. It evolved through a sense of awe and gratitude<\/strong> to natural world and it is expressed trough myth and rituals.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The objects of faith in the Shinto religion are deites called \u201cKAMI\u201d. Whatever seems strikingly impressive posseses the quality of excellence and inspiring a feeling of awe: oceans, mountains, rivers, trees, plants, animals and human beings are all examples of kami. In Shinto all the human beings are regarded as children or descendants of kami. Central to Shinto beliefs is purification known as \u201cHARAE\u201d in Japanese: it is intended to recover both physical and mental purity. Through purification our origin kami nature is restored.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It is important to remember that in Shinto the nature of human beings is considered to be essentially good. It is the practice of personal improvement of correcting one\u2019s path and thus enjoying a positive attitude toward life. Since ancient time Shinto has taugh the goal of human life is to \u201cbecome a KAMI\u201d, through refining the personality to bring out a clean and bright character. As there is no doctrine of final salvation it is believed that we continue training for purification and further spiritual advancement. After phisical death until one eventually becomes a kami.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In Shinto ceremonies a prayer called Norito is recited in front of the Kami by a chief of presiding shinto priest. Shinto prayers usually open with words in praise of the Kami, make some reference to the origin and possibly the history of the specific ritual, enumerate the offerings presented, express thanksgiving and finally close with some words of respects and awe.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Norito is written and read in archaic Japanese and expressed in the elegant classical language. According to ancient belief, beautiful and correct wording will bring about good. This concept is based on KOTOKAMA, through which they think that words have spiritual power.<\/p>\n

Per quest\u2019opera si \u00e8 scelta una parte di un norito shintoista giapponese che recita: “Parola che ferma le singole foglie dell’erba Heisei Bone Tree Negishi (Bonsai, ndr). Addio all’esca celeste e dividi le celesti nuvole del cielo a migliaia separatamente. La discesa celeste \u00e8 un serpente. Sono fiero di te.”<\/em> <\/span><\/p>\n

La religione shintoista \u00e8 molto antica; non ha fondatori, dottrine o dogmi. \u00c8 fondata su un senso di gratitudine e stupore nei confronti del mondo naturale<\/strong>, ed \u00e8 espressa attraverso il mito e i rituali. Le deit\u00e0 pregate dalla religione shintoista si chiamano \u201cKAMI\u201d. Qualsiasi espressione naturale che desti meraviglia viene venerata: gli oceani, le montagne, i fiumi, gli alberi, le piante, gli animali e gli esseri umani sono tutti esempi di KAMI.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nella religione shinto, tutti gli esseri umani sono considerati bambini o discendenti dei KAMI. \u00c8 centrale nella religione shinto la purificazione<\/strong>, conosciuta come \u201cHARAE\u201d in giapponese; questa viene usata per guarire e riportare alla purezza sia fisica che mentale. Attraverso la purificazione il nostro spirito KAMI viene riportato in vita. \u00c8 importante ricordare che nello scintoismo la natura umana \u00e8 considerata essenzialmente buona. Attraverso il miglioramento personale si pu\u00f2 percorrere la strada giusta, e avere un\u2019inclinazione positiva nei confronti della vita. Dall\u2019antichit\u00e0 lo Shinto ha insegnato agli esseri umani che la vita viene vissuta per \u201cdiventare KAMI\u201d<\/strong>, attraverso l\u2019affinamento della propria personalit\u00e0 per portare a far affiorare un carattere pulito e splendente. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Visto che non esiste nessuna dottrina di salvazione finale, si crede che ci si affini per tutta la vita attraverso la purificazione e lo sviluppo spirituale. Dopo la morte fisica, si ritorna ad essere KAMI. Nelle cerimonie shintoiste una preghiera chiamata NORITO \u00e8 recitata da un capo sacerdote di fronte ai KAMI. I NORITO cominciano pregando e apprezzando i KAMI, e fanno riferimento alle origini di uno specifico rituale, descrivono le offerte presentate, ed esprimono gratitudine, e infine chiudono con parole di rispetto e meraviglia. <\/span><\/p>\n

I NORITO sono scritti e letti in giapponese arcaico, e sono espressi nell\u2019elegante lingua classica. Secondo la tradizione, una lettura bella e corretta porter\u00e0 bene. Questo concetto \u00e8 basato sul KOTOKAMA, attraverso il quale si pensa che le parole abbiano un potere spirituale.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=”transparent” thickness=”10″][vc_separator type=”transparent” thickness=”10″][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

Hinduism<\/h4>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=”transparent” thickness=”10″][vc_separator type=”transparent” thickness=”10″][vc_column_text]The artwork quotes a prayer from the religion Brahma Kumaris<\/strong>, descending from Hinduism: “I am the being in the center of the forehead radiating God\u2019s purity to every cell of my body. My body is healed with God\u2019s energy. I am an embodiment of peace, the original nature of the soul.”<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Brahma Kumaris is a Hindu spiritual movement that originated in Hyderabad, in Pakistan in 1936. The Brahma Kumaris see humans as being made up of two parts<\/strong>; an external or visible body and a subtle energy of the soul whose character structure is revealed through a person’s external activity. The group teaches that the soul is an infinitesimal point of spiritual light<\/strong> residing in the forehead of the body and all souls originally existed with God in a “Soul World”, a world of infinite light, peace and silence. Brahma Kumaris believes God to be an incorporeal point of light.<\/p>\n

Il Brahma Kumaris \u00e8 un movimento spirituale indiano che ebbe origine a Hyderabad, in Pakistan nel 1936. Il Brahma Kumaris vede l\u2019essere umano composto da due parti<\/strong>: un corpo esterno o visibile e una sottile energia dell’anima la cui struttura caratteriale viene rivelata attraverso l’attivit\u00e0 esterna di una persona. Il gruppo insegna che l’anima \u00e8 un punto infinitesimale di luce spirituale<\/strong> che risiede nella fronte del corpo e tutte le anime esistevano originariamente con Dio in un “Mondo dell’Anima”, un mondo di luce infinita, pace e silenzio. Il Brahma Kumaris crede che Dio sia un punto di luce incorporeo e colui che toglie il male dalle anime. L\u2019opera si fa portatrice di questi valori e li esalta usando il medesimo simbolo: la luce. Il fascio luminoso scorre all\u2019interno delle sue parole, le esalta e con il movimento, d\u00e0 loro vita. I valori delle religioni sono essenziali per Penelope, li studia, ricerca le loro origini e, attraverso la sua arte, li trasforma in materia con la consapevolezza costante che l\u2019autorevolezza della storia e lo spirito costruttivo delle religioni sono la base fondante della nostra cultura e incipit per il futuro dell\u2019universo e dell\u2019umanit\u00e0.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=”transparent” thickness=”10″][vc_separator type=”transparent” thickness=”10″][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

Judaism<\/h4>\n

The artist looks for new ways of showing the same energy<\/strong> that is in every culture, the archetypes of Life itself. The series on religions shows several different prayers in different cultures and languages of the world. One only God – Life itself – is shown through all the differences. The tunnel of Life and Death that is shared among all living creatures.<\/p>\n

Of the world\u2019s major religions, Judaism is considered one of the oldest monotheistic faiths. Its scriptures traditions and values have strongly influenced monotheistic religions that have come after it including Christianity and Islam. Many aspects of Judaism have had a direct influence on age-old ethics and laws governing society<\/strong> in the west. How would it not be possible to adopt it as the origin of the series on religion?<\/p>\n
